Scientific Research The students belonging to the whole levels (and mainly to the Masters) can benefit from a valuable research atmosphere that helps them to improve their dissertations. Indeed, the University provides its students with the tools they need to successfully fulfill they research proposals. Books The library inside the University encompasses a large number of books in economics and all its sub-fields, such as finance, management, marketing, human resources management, econometrics, etc. Further, the books cover other sub-fields such as computer science an its applications. It is noticeable to mention that all the books (either edited or written) by Professor Mondher Bellalah are available. Similarly, all the books edited by the CFA Institute (Virginia, USA) are available in the MBA-CFA Department. E-Books More than 2500 e-books can be found in the PCs of the Universities with a free access of the students 7 days a week. The student can have access to all the e-books. The covered fields are mainly Finance, Management, Micro-economics,Macro-economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Computer Sciences, English, etc. Almost all the e-books are published by international Editors such as Wiley & Sons (UK), World Scientific Publishing (USA), Springer (Allemagne), Harvard University Press (USA), Princeton University Press (USA), Economica (France), etc. The authors of the e-books are very well-known professors from top Universities in the USA (e.g., MIT. HBS, CBS, UCLA…) The number of e-books increases every week. To check for updates. Additional materials The students can further benefit from other working papers, courses, and essays that are linked to the research methodology an its applications. It is possible to get inspired from such materials in order to improve one's research. We mention some examples : Reference 1 Bryan et al. (2005), Research Method and Methodology in Finance and Accountancy, Thompson Edition (Contact the staff in the Library to get an example.) Reference 2 Brooks, C., (2008), Introductory Econometrics for Finance, Second Edition, Cambridge University Press This book is highly useful since it helps students to learn how to manage statistical softwares for their empirical applications. Further Research Help Alongside with being supervised by their supervisors, the postgraduate students can also benefit from additional research help from doctoral students that are either enrolled in the UMLT or in external universities in Tunisia or Europe. The joint help of the research team can solve complex problems that are related to theoretical and empirical problems. For instance, it is possible to discuss how to use econometric softwares (EVIEWS, SPSS, STATA, SAS, GAUSS, RATS, …), the interpretation of the fitting and simulation results, and the use of Scientific Word and LaTeX. A meeting takes place one time every fortnight. The meeting is regularly taking place in the CEL (Computational Economics Lab .), located in Salle d'Informatique 1 . JSTOR Database The access to the JSTOR Database is free. The papers start from the late 1970s until 2007. The reviews are mainly Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Quaterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Econometrics, Econometrica, Journal of Marketing, … For any additional question, please contact : Nacef Abdennadher (Finance & Banking) : a_nacef2002@yahoo.fr |
